Week 12 Discussion: Energy Drinks Cont'd

Hey Scholars!!!

Can you believe it? We are already at the end of the 2nd six weeks. Only 6 more weeks and your done with Chemistry (tear). Last week we talked about electrolytes and that kind of lead to some discussion on energy drinks. For this week I would like you to read this article/story and tell me if this is going to be the future of sports drinks. Instead of Gator-aid are athletes going to slam an energy drink before a game or an Olympic Race?

Let me know what you think

I think this will be the future of sports drinks. Not only are adults drinking them but most of all the children. Especially teenagers we see everyday drinking these thinking if they drink them that they are going to stay awake and be energized. They have no idea what is in them or what the things in them to do their body. Everyone thinks that if the person next to them is doing it and it's working for them, then it must work for them. Everyone's body is different so no one thing does the same for everyone.
I guess the more about it i wonder if it will be the future because if more people become educated about what it is really doing to them, then they may or may not continue to drink them.
We need to be more healthier and i dont think these are the best things to be healthier.

UMMM MR.DILLMAN I BELIEVE THAT ENERGY DRINKS WILL BE THE FUTURE OF SPORTS DRINKS!! ITS LIKE ITS TAKING OVER...EVERYONE IS DRINKING IT.....ENTERTAINERS...ATHLETES...EVERYBODY. EVEN THOUGH EVERYBODY IS DIFFERENT THE COMPANY HAD TO COME OUT WITH DIFFERENT FLAVORS TO SUIT DIFFERENT NEEDS. NOBODY LOOKS AT THE BAD SIDE AFFECTS BUT IF IT MATTERED, NOBODY WOULD BUY IT. BUT THE ARE....ENERGY DRINKS KEEP YOU UP FOR A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF HOURS, JUST LON G ENOUGH FOR YOU TO DO WHAT YOU NEED TO AND THEY ALSO GIVE YOU ENERGY. THATS WHY ITS CALLED AN ENERGY DRINK.

I think this will be the future of sports drinks. But on the contrary, i think that from prior knowledge to alot of energy drinks, you will crash later. and the more and more that this happens, people might not want to use them as much.

I think that energy drinks wont be the future of sports. Most sports dont require things that energy drinks offer. Some people use different forms of energy. For example, before some short races such as the 100m dash in track some sprinters eat honey before to have a quick burst of energy. Gatorade has the "perfect" amount of electrolytes to put energy back in your body from all the sweating you do. Energy shots are a different story. You might see energy shots on the sidelines of sports teams in the near future.

i think that energy drinks will be the drink that athletes swallow down before an event because the more people see other kids use them and they are succeeding the more people will buy them. But i also think that if people are ONLY drinking energy drinks before an event then there will be consequences!!!!!

I think that sports drinks could take the place of gatoraide in sports that require require alot of energy such as cross country.
