Hey Scholars,
Hope you enjoy that extra day off this week. I know I did. This week we are talking about Colloids and things that are suspended in solutions. My first thought when I think of electrolytes is Gator-Aid. I want to know what other beverages are out there that have suspended matter in them and what makes the healthy or unhealthy for our bodies (effects) Hint: energy drinks!!!

Since your hint was energy drink i thought of all the commercials i see to make you stray away from them and how they say how guarana is in them which is what makes you feel "Energized" when you drink it. This can be very unhealthy for you and here are some things it can do to you:
-For some people it can prevent sleep and for others it can make you crash.
-can cause you to have high blood pressure.
-can cause you to use the restroom more often.
When reading this i thought the worst one was that you can overdose on guarana.
So while we see the same people every day drinking an energy drink this could be happening to them.

Taurine
Taurine is an amino acid that your body naturally produces. It helps regulate heartbeat, muscle contractions, and energy levels. Usually your body makes enough that you don’t need to supplement. It’s thought, but not proven, that under “stress conditions” like illness, physical exertion, or injury, the body does not create enough and supplements can help. Taurine might be a “mild inhibitory neurotransmitter”, some studies show it helps with excitable brain states. While this isn’t exactly what we want, maybe it helps level us out so we function better with elevated levels of other stimulants.
Power aid the knock off to gatorade athletes drink this before and after workouts althought the smart athletes drink water instead before work outs because it is indeed better then gatorade or its knock off brand powerade lol
wine has suspended matter in it due to the absorbtion of light.
wine contributes to greater life expectancy and decresed heart disease.

IN GATOR-AID:Electrolytes are salts that are naturally part of bodily fluids. If electrolytes are lost too quickly, the body does not have the ability to restore them as rapidly as they were lost.Sports drinks contain electrolytes such as chloride, sodium, and potassium to help replenish what was lost through sweat. Introducing electrolytes back into the body helps keep dehydration from occurring. Dehydration can become a very serious problem if not attended to. Electrolytes help to increase the absorption of fluids into the bloodstream.
IN VAULT: contain as much as 80 mg of caffeine.....recommended for people under the age of thirty. These drinks
can be extremely powerful and should be enjoyed responsibly, they can boost the heart rate and blood pressure, dehydrate the body and, just like other energy components, they may cause insomnia.
