Scholars,
I was having a discussion with a fellow scholar this week on how what tool/instrument measures some of the hottest things in the world, like Lava for example. This week do some research and find an article or website that would lead me to my answer.

I found two articles in which heat was measured from lava. This was a hard blog to do i thought i would find hot things but even finding for lava was hard.
Anyways...
During an eruption in Hawaii a field measurement was made with a probe with four electrodes. When taking the measure they had to be about 100 m away from the vent and it calculated the electrical resistivity. This can be very dangerous so there are certain times when measurements can be taken.

Hey this is one way to get my question anwsered lol but anyways this is what i found.......
Volcanologist Dr. Stanley Williams Says:
"We measure the temperature of lava by putting a probe of metal into it. Our thermocouple tells us the temperature, in degrees Celsius."
